Even Here: Finding God in the Middle of Motherhood

Motherhood doesn't always look like the "quiet time" we scrolled past on Instagram this
morning.
It isn’t always a slow, sun-drenched hour with a steaming latte and an open, perfectly highlighted Bible. Most days, it looks like early wake-ups, cold coffee, and interrupted prayers. It’s the weight of a toddler on your hip while you try to remember where you left your train of thought. It’s a mind that feels like a browser with fifty tabs open, and every single one is making noise.
And somewhere in the middle of the laundry piles and the mental load… you still long for God.
Not because you’re trying to check a religious box. Not because you’re afraid of "falling behind" in your spiritual life. But because you’re thirsty. You need Him.
Yet, if we’re honest, we often carry a quiet weight of shame. We feel like we’re "failing" at our faith because our devotionals are scattered and our prayers are whispered between diaper changes. We worry our time with Him isn't "deep enough" or "holy enough."
But what if God was never asking for perfection in this season?
What if He isn’t waiting for you at the finish line of your to-do list, but is actually walking with you through the thick of it? He is inviting you to meet Him… even here.
God Is Not Waiting for Your "Ideal Moment"

It’s easy to believe the lie that intentional Christian living requires a sanctuary. We wait for the house to be silent, the kids to be asleep, and our mental clarity to return before we think we can truly "connect."
But motherhood teaches us quickly that "perfect" moment rarely comes. And if it does, we’re usually too exhausted to use it.
If we aren't careful, we start to believe that because we don’t have the setting, we don’t have the Saviour. But Scripture tells a different story. God has always met His people in the middle of the "un-ideal."
He met Hagar in the wilderness.
He met the disciples in a storm-tossed boat.
He met the woman at the well in the heat of an ordinary day.
He is not distant from your current season of faith-based parenting. He is present in it. He isn’t waiting for you to escape the chaos to find Him; He is inviting you to encounter intimacy with God right inside the noise.
Your Relationship with God Doesn’t Have to Look Like It Used To
Maybe before motherhood, your spiritual life was structured. You had long journaling sessions and deep, uninterrupted Bible studies.
Now? Now your "quiet time" might be one verse taped to the kitchen window while you wash dishes. It’s a whispered breath of “Help me, Lord” during a tantrum. It’s a moment of stillness in the driveway before you walk into the house.
It can feel small. It can feel "less than."
But spiritual growth isn't measured by the clock; it’s measured by the heart. Those small, scattered moments are seeds. When you choose presence over performance, God receives those three-minute prayers as total surrender. He isn’t counting the minutes; He’s honouring the hunger.
Even Here… God Is Near
If you are experiencing faith after burnout or feeling like your spiritual life has run dry, hear this: God is not asking you to become a different version of yourself to meet Him.
He isn’t waiting for a "quieter" version of your life. He isn’t withholding His grace until you "get it together."
He is near—right now.
In the exhaustion.
In the honest "I’m tired" moments.
In the middle of the messy kitchen.

Sometimes, the most powerful act of intentional faith you can offer is simply whispering: “God… I’m here.” Because the beautiful truth is—He already is, too.
If You Don’t Know Where to Start… Start Here
If you’ve been feeling distant from God or overwhelmed by the "shoulds" of Christian living, you aren't alone. You don’t have to figure out how to "fix" your faith on your own.
The Even Here: Meeting God in the Middle of Motherhood Free Devotional was created as a gentle starting point. It’s a faith-based resource designed for the woman who has five minutes and a heavy heart. No pressure—just a soft place to reconnect.

And if you’re ready for a deeper journey, the full Even Here Devotional will walk with you through this season—helping you move from feeling "spiritually dry" to experiencing a real, personal connection with Him again.
This isn’t about adding another task to your list. It’s about learning how to be with God… even here.
Reflection: A Moment for You
Where have you been waiting for the “perfect moment” to spend time with God?
What would it look like to invite Him into your life exactly as it is today?
A Mother’s Prayer
God, You see me in this season—the fullness, the weight, and the beauty of it. Help me to stop striving for a "perfect" quiet time and start seeking You in what’s already in front of me. Remind me that You are not far. You are in the small moments, the interruptions, and the ordinary tasks. Thank You for welcoming me just as I am. Teach me how to stay with You… even here. Amen.
