Why Do I Still Struggle With the Same Sin?

Do you often find yourself wondering, “Why do I keep facing the same challenges?

You’ve prayed about it. You’ve asked God for help. You’ve made efforts to improve.

And yet, the issue keeps coming back.

Then, doubts start creeping in:

  • Am I letting God down?

  • Why can’t I seem to get this right?

  • Shouldn’t I be making more progress by now?

If you’re feeling this way, I want you to understand something important:

Your struggles do not mean that God has abandoned you.

The Tension You’re Feeling Is Actually Biblical

The Bible acknowledges this struggle and provides insight into it. In the book of Galatians, we learn something significant:

There is a genuine conflict between our human desires and the Spirit's guidance. This feeling you have is not just in your head. It doesn’t mean you’re weak.

You are going through something that every believer faces.

Walk by the Spirit (What Does That Actually Mean?)

If you live your life guided by the Spirit, you won't give in to the urges of your physical desires. This isn't just about putting in more effort; it's about learning to approach life in a new way.

Living by the Spirit means:

  • Letting go and relying on something greater instead of just depending on yourself.

  • Being aware of your thoughts and actions instead of going through life on autopilot.

  • Choosing to follow what is true, even when your emotions are overwhelming.

Remember, this journey doesn't lead to instant perfection. It's about making small, daily adjustments to align yourself with this new way of living.

Why the Same Patterns Keep Showing Up

When we face the same challenges repeatedly, it's often not just about our actions; it's about the underlying patterns that drive them.

These patterns are shaped by several factors:

  • How we think

  • Our emotional reactions

  • The habits we've built over time

This is why simply "trying harder" usually doesn't lead to real change.

True transformation begins not with changing our behaviours but with changing our mindset.

You’re Not Failing—You’re Being Formed

This is a common misunderstanding for many people. They often think, "I'm still having a hard time, so I must be failing." However, the teachings in Scripture present a different perspective.

What you're actually experiencing is a process called sanctification. This means that you are being shaped and developed over time. It's important to note that this transformation doesn't happen overnight, and it won't be perfect. But it is a deliberate and meaningful process.

Growth doesn't mean you won't face challenges. Instead, it's about how you navigate those struggles.

If you’ve ever felt like your struggle disqualifies you, this episode will meet you right where you are.

🎧 The Unshakeable Anchor: Why You Can’t Outsin or Out-Suffer God’s Love

In this episode, we talk about:

  • Why God’s love doesn’t withdraw when you struggle

  • The difference between conviction and shame

  • What it actually means to be anchored in Him—even in your lowest moments

Breaking the Cycle Without Shame

Here’s what really helps you make progress:

1. Know before you act

You can’t change what you don’t see.

2. Facts over feelings

Feelings are important, but they aren’t always trustworthy.

3. Regular effort over big bursts

Small, everyday actions lead to real change.

4. Kindness over blame

Feeling ashamed keeps you stuck. Kindness helps you move forward.

Growth Is a Process, Not Perfection

Don't worry about making changes all at once. God isn’t looking for you to be perfect; instead, He is right there with you as you grow and change. This includes the tough times, the repeated efforts, and those moments when you wish things were different.
